Lighting is a big part of the feel in a master bedroom. You can create various types of lighting in your master by having different types of lighting sources. Natural light makes the room open, airy and cheery, while table lamps can give the room a cozier feel. An elegant chandelier over the master bed gives you over all, room lighting for brighter lighting. Wall sconces and floor lamps help to light up areas that are dim or darkened.
Choose high quality bed sheets that are a higher thread-count as opposed to low quality sheets to make your bed look and feel more luxurious. Use layers of linens and accessories for your bed for a diverse look to the bed and to give it depth and a multi-textured look: comforter, a throw, multiple types of throw pillows that vary in shapes and colors. Hang luxurious, textured curtains on the windows added dramatic effect.
Add décor pieces that reflect who you are and your style. Wall paintings, table and dresser décor pieces, such as flowers, or pictures. Create your own personal getaway with the things that make you feel relaxed, happy, whatever the feel you want to have while you are in your personal retreat, your master bedroom.
When crafting a space that both men and women feel at home in, neutrals and woods are your best friends. A headboard that emphasizes shape rather than color is a great way to avoid a look that feels too basic, and a classic rug, such as an Oushak, is something everyone can agree on. Bedside tables, a bench, or chairs in streamlined wood add a tactile quality to the scheme. Color, of course, is by no means off-limits—just choose those pops wisely.
