Crystal chandeliers were thought of as an elegant, dining room ambiance. Today, people are glamorizing their bedrooms with crystal chandeliers for a dramatic look and feel. Crystal chandeliers add a sense of elegance and luxury that other chandeliers do not. Crystal prisms often give people a sense of joy, watching the lights that they capture, reflect the colors across the room. Crystal chandeliers can be big or small, but they should fit the size of the room and not consume too much ceiling or room space, in smaller rooms. Use the height of the walls and square footage of the room to help you to scale your chandelier. By adding similar style table lamps and luxurious, dramatic drapes, you can tie the room’s theme and décor together.
Before you start converting anything, you will want to decide what purpose or function the outdoor portion of your bedroom will play? Do you want it as a sitting area that is an addition to your actual sleeping area? Do you want it to be able to be an option for sleeping as well, for instance, consist of a bed or other type of sleeping quarters? Maybe you want the outdoor portion of the bedroom to a place where you can sit and watch a little TV, play games, visit with your spouse or gaze at the stars. Knowing what purpose the area will serve will help you determine what type of furniture you will need, how big of a space you will need off of the main bedroom, and what type of coverage or other enclosure you may want to include.
Choosing neutral tones for your bedroom is where it begins. You want to enhance a simplistic appeal, and overstated, loud or vibrant colors can disrupt the peace of a bedroom when trying to create an unassuming look and feel. White on white is very basic, clean, sophisticated and breathable. Black and white together, something that mimics a black and white photo, is the right angle of a Scandinavian look. Beiges, tans, creams, and grey, all work well with simple chic and cozy, for this design. An idea is to cover your walls in a light gray and make them pop with all white trim. Or use one wall as a focal point, for instance, the wall behind the bed could be painted an outdoorsy color while retaining the rest of the walls white.
For a bedroom needing that last layer of personality, a few trad-leaning moments might be just the thing. Layered atop simple furnishings, details such as monograms, Greek key patterns, or toile can ground the bedroom with just the right amount of design gravitas without feeling overly staid.
