Before you start converting anything, you will want to decide what purpose or function the outdoor portion of your bedroom will play? Do you want it as a sitting area that is an addition to your actual sleeping area? Do you want it to be able to be an option for sleeping as well, for instance, consist of a bed or other type of sleeping quarters? Maybe you want the outdoor portion of the bedroom to a place where you can sit and watch a little TV, play games, visit with your spouse or gaze at the stars. Knowing what purpose the area will serve will help you determine what type of furniture you will need, how big of a space you will need off of the main bedroom, and what type of coverage or other enclosure you may want to include.

Landing on just two colors, typically a neutral and an accent color, can help you navigate through each choice without getting overwhelmed. Walls in the accent color? Then go neutral for the headboard. Window treatments? Just match the walls and you’re done. Bedside lighting? Seek out lamps in either your accent color or your neutral
