Keeping clean lines is great way to create the illusion of space in a smaller bathroom. Say no to anything fussy. And maximising natural light will always help. While you don’t have to stick to white, lighter colours will definitely work better. Take advantage of the many smaller and narrower vanities, sinks and toilets on the market which are designed with small spaces in mind.
Modern interior design came about as a reaction to the ornate and almost baroque styles that came before it. As such, the main focus of this school of design is to act as the antithesis of of those other looks. Rather than having lots of details and embellishments, modern furniture relies on clean lines and stark contrasts.
Choosing lighting is a crucial part of modern design style especially in the bathroom. There are plenty of lighting choices available to you. Modern design is all about lines and geometric shapes, so keep that in mind when shopping for light fixtures, windows, and placement of lighting. However, make sure to remember that the quality of the light is further more important than the actual light fixture. Skylights are great idea for modern bathrooms, because they add more natural light and interest to your bathroom.
When it comes to designing a small bathroom, especially if you’re renovating, you’d be forgiven for wanting to take the bath out of the equation. I’m a big believer in bathing so this doesn’t sit well with me, but I know I’m probably in the minority.
